What do the "QBS verified" tiers mean?
Queen Status
Requirements:

Book Box has an active stance against the use of generative AI written on their website, in their written policies, and/or prominently displayed on their socials.

Book Box has no known* credible or verified claims of generative AI usage against them. OR if a credible claim has been made, the Book Box itself was not initially aware that AI artwork was used and the Book Box addressed and resolved the issue by removing said AI art.

Book Box has no known* credible or verified claims of illicit or dishonest customer service activity

QBS has personally purchased and/or received more than 2 editions from this Book Box and can personally attest to the box's credibility**
King Status
Requirements:

Book Box has at some point made a public statement against the use of generative AI

Book Box has no known* credible or verified claims of generative AI usage against them. OR if a credible claim has been made, the Book Box itself was not initially aware that AI artwork was used and the Book Box addressed and resolved the issue by removing said AI art.

Book Box has no known* credible or verified claims of illicit or dishonest customer service activity

QBS has personally purchased and/or received at least 1 or 2 editions from this Book Box and can personally attest to the box's credibility**
Knight Status
Requirements:

Book Box has no known* credible or verified claims of generative AI usage against them. OR if a credible claim has been made, the Book Box itself was not initially aware that AI artwork was used and the Book Box addressed and resolved the issue by removing said AI art.

Book Box has no known* credible or verified claims of illicit or dishonest customer service activity

QBS has personally purchased and/or received at least 1 or 2 editions from this Book Box and can personally attest to the box's credibility** OR QBS has confirmed box credibility with at least 3 others who have purchased from this Book Box.
*Known = QBS has no knowledge of said claims.
**Individual experiences with book box may vary, but QBS has found them to be an honest and legit company. Whether a book box is deemed credible or honest is unrelated to individual opinions on shipping timelines, damage criteria policies, etc.
What does it mean if a Book Box is NOT tagged with a QBS verified status?
If a Book Box is NOT tagged with a QBS verified status, it simply means that the box does not meet ALL of the requirements listed in the tiers above.
Bookstores who sell publisher special editions will not receive QBS verified statuses because they are not making the decisions about what artwork is used on each book.
If a Book Box is not tagged with a QBS verified status it does NOT automatically mean that the company has used generative AI and/or has been dishonest in any way. It might be as simple as QBS does not know anyone personally who has purchased from that Book Box!
Similarly, QBS may love a book box, but if that Book Box does not have an active statement against AI on their website and/or socials, they will not qualify for Queen Tier Status.
There are many boxes listed on this website and QBS cannot personally verify all of them - in the spirit of not wanting to lead any special edition collectors astray, I created these tiers to distinguish those boxes that I can personally attest to AND that meet the other requirements above.
Think of the QBS verified status as the cherry on top to give you extra confidence when choosing a company to buy from!
